Not us, but worth knowing.
Troop 62 is a Scouts BSA troop for boys aged 11 to 17. If that isn’t who you have at home, we’d still rather hand you somewhere real than a shrug — so here are the two units we send people to, with everything we can tell you about them.
For younger kids
Cub Scout Pack 62
Cub Scouting is where a Scout starts if he’s too young for us, and Pack 62 is about as close as it gets — they meet in the same building we do, on the same night, an hour before our meeting. Boys who come up through Pack 62 tend to arrive at Troop 62 already knowing half the room, which makes the first Monday a great deal easier on everyone.
Pack 62 takes both boys and girls, Kindergarten through fifth grade. That is worth saying plainly, because it means a younger daughter is not out of luck here the way she would be with us — Cub Scouting is co-ed, and the pack is a five-minute walk from where you’re already standing on a Monday.

The money is straightforward and it is in your favour: Pack 62 is sponsored, so registration is $30 for the year and that is the whole of it. No monthly dues, nothing collected at the door, nothing on top. If that is still a stretch, say so to the Cubmaster rather than staying home — they take the same view of it we do.
One practical difference from us: Cub Scouting expects a parent to stay for the meeting rather than drop off and come back. That is normal for the age group, and it is worth knowing before you plan your Monday evening around it.
For girls
Scouts BSA Troop 1228
Scouts BSA runs boys’ troops and girls’ troops separately, and Troop 62 is a boys’ troop. That is not us being cagey about it — it is how the program is built. So if you have a daughter who wants what your son is getting, the answer isn’t no, it’s Douglasville.
Troop 1228 is Douglasville’s first all-female Scouts BSA troop, chartered at Douglasville First United Methodist Church, about fifteen minutes down the road from us. Same program, same handbook, same ranks, and the same Eagle Scout at the end of it — there is no junior version of this.

They meet on a Tuesday rather than a Monday, which is worth knowing if you have a son with us and a daughter with them — the two don’t collide.
One caveat
Check before you drive.
What we’ve said about Pack 62 comes straight from the pack itself, and they meet in our building on our night, so we’d know if it changed. Take that as solid. If their own website tells you something different, we are the ones who are right — but turn up on a Monday either way and you’ll find both of us there.
Troop 1228 we know less well. Their details here are what they publish themselves, and meeting nights and leadership change without anybody thinking to tell a troop one town over. Send them a message before you drive out. If you find something on this page is out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.
And if your son is 11 to 17, none of this applies to you — come see us on a Monday.
